JACK
RABBIT - NEEDLE PAINTING
The
Jack Rabbit is worked in the method of needle painting which is the
blending of straight long and short stitches using different shades
of DMC floss.
The
embroidery is worked on a off white muslin fabric in a 9 inch by 9
inch stretcher bar frame. The fabric is pinned onto the stretcher bar
frame so that it is drum tight.
WORK IN PROGRESS
The
embroidery is worked from the background to the foreground so that a
dimensional picture is created. I used one strand of DMC floss in the
needle at the time.
-
The
design is transferred onto the fabric using the prick
and pounce method.
-
The
neck is worked in rows of long and short stitch across the width of
the neck beginning at the bottom of the neck working up to the jaw.
The ears are worked in rows of long and short stitch across the ear
beginning at the tips of the ears working to the head.
-
The
neck is completed and the inside of the ears.
-
The
outer edges of the ears are worked in long and short stitch.
