Kit of the Month The kit of the month special for May is the Spectral Butterfly Blackwork embroidery kit reduced by $6.00 Canadian Dollars. The Blackwork Butterfly is worked on a 32 count fabric. You have a choice of working on easy to count 100% cotton Etamin fabric or on 32 count Belfast linen fabric. The Blackwork is a counted form of needlework working straight or diagonal stitches over one, two, or four threads of the fabric following step by step charts of the pattern. Interesting patterns are worked on the wings and trail of the butterfly and metallic threads outline the edges of the wings and legs. The instructions for my kits are concise and written with the beginner in mind....I am offering free correspondence incase there are any questions you need answering as you are working the embroidery and free ongoing critique where you can email me pictures of the embroidery as you are working it and I will email you constructive comments. What's New? I have brought in two new embroidery books: A-Z of Embroidery Stitches 2 by Country Bumpkin Publications: The book has more than 145 surface embroidery stitches or counted thread stitches with step-by-step pictures guides. Traditional Blackwork Samplers by Leslie Wilkins: The book has some great blackwork patterns to be used on band samplers including floral and fruit bands, geometric bands, alphabets and animal and butterfly motifs. What's Happening in May? From Tuesday 20th of May to Monday 26th of May I will be teaching embroidery classes in Kelowna for the Embroidery Association of Canada - National Seminar. I will also be selling my kits at merchants night on Thursday 22nd of May. If you are attending seminar and would like me to bring specific kits or merchandise to merchants night please email me to let me know and I will have them available. During the seminar dates I will not be able to answer emails or fill out orders, I will respond to any received during this time on Tuesday 27th of May.
