MOUNTMELLICK CORNER DESIGN (KW1) The Corner Design is a beginner to advanced Mountmellick technique. Working the embroidery: A variety of different embroidery stitches (approximately 15) are worked with traditional Mountmellick threads (two thickness' of white cotton embroidery threads) on a heavy white satin jean fabric. The stitches worked are bold giving the picture a 3-dimensional effect. The kit has detailed instructions and lots of diagrams to guide your through the embroidery. The instructions are written with the beginner in mind and intended to guide embroiderers of any level through the embroidery from beginning to end. The fabric comes with the design hand drawn on so there are no worries about transferring the design. MOUNTMELLICK NEEDLES (KW1) Size 4 crewel embroidery needles are used for Mountmellick embroideyr. The needles have a long eye for easier threading a sharp point to the needle so that the stitches can be worked close together and there is more control for placing the stitches. This needle is not suitable for counted thread work as the point of the needle would easily catch the threads of the fabric, distorting the counted work. This informative book has step by step photos of how to transfer the Mountmellick designs provided onto the fabric, how to work the Mountmellick embroidery stitches and how to knit the fringe often used around Mountmellick accessories. MOUNTMELLICK EMBROIDERY (MBM2) Soft back book, 96 pages, written by Jules and Kaethe Kliot and published by Priscilla Publishing Company. This book illustrates many examples of Mountmellick designs and the stitches used. Each illustration has a description of how the piece was worked, detailing the stitches used and the location of the stitches on the piece. There are no working samples in the book but the illustrations viewed can be copied and used. This book is a great accompaniment for my Mountmellick corner design kit.
