HAPSBURG LACE SAMPLER

This sampler can be worked by beginner to advanced embroiderers, if you enjoy counted thread such as cross-stitch you will love working this sampler.

A beautiful lacy sampler is worked using pearl cottons on an 18 count mono canvas. In the example opposite white pearl cottons have been embroidered onto 18 count natural coloured mono canvas.

The lacy stitches are worked in rows, taking care not to cross the threads over open holes at the back of the canvas because the lacy effect would be lost. Ribbons are inserted between some rows of the Hapsburg lace patterns to give a touch of colour. Each pattern is charted out and explained in detail how it is worked.

This sampler looks great using any coloured mono canvas with a contrasting pearl cotton colour, I offer natural (brown) or antique blue canvas (see bookmark below for antique blue canvas) in my kit with white pearl cotton and pale blue and pale pink ribbons.

If you purchase the instruction booklet alone you can choose your own colour canvas and contrasting pearl cotton thread (more than one colour can be used) and metallic, silk or transparent ribbons can be used instead of plain ribbons to give your sampler a unique look. If you dislike French knots, beads have proven to be an appealing substitute (to the embroiderer and the admirer), the choice is yours. Work as much or as little of the sampler as you like.

I am offering free correspondence and free on going critique for this kit, for more details go to - Free on going critique.

HAPSBURG FRAME

A beautiful lacy frame is worked using pearl cottons on an 18 count mono canvas. In the example opposite white pearl cottons have been embroidered onto 18 count natural coloured mono canvas. A frame of double cross stitches are worked in two rows, ribbons are inserted between the rows to give a touch of colour. Eyelets are worked around the outside of the frame and a scalloped filling is worked in the spaces between the eyelets and the frame. French knots line the outside of the eyelets. A pattern of a rabbit worked in petit point is provided or you can work a pattern of your own choice in the center. The Hapsburg lace design makes a perfect picture frame - insert a photo in the center of the Hapsburg frame.
