TWISTS (Torsade) I offer many choices of twisted threads also known as Torsade (French term). Twists (Torsade) are twisted cords. The cords are made up of three strands of gold that are twisted into a cord. Each strand of gold is made up of a thread core with a gold wire wrapped around the core so it does not show. The twists are couched down by sewing the stitch at the same angle as the twist of the cord so that the stitches hide in the twists and are invisible. Twists can be used for outlining and for filling shapes in the couching method. 1. GOLD 2% WM TWISTS (Torsade) Gold 2% WM Check Purls are the highest standard gold thread that can be purchased for Goldwork. 2% gold is also known as Admiralty or Government standard and are 2% gold on white metal. I offer four sizes of 2% WM gold Twists. 2. GILT TWISTS (Torsade)  Gilt Twists are about ½ % of Gold on silver plated copper. (Gilt Twists are similar in appearance and quality to the 2% Twists). I offer three sizes of Gilt Twists. 3. SILVER TWISTS (Torsade)  I offer one size of silver plated Twist. 4. COPPER TWISTS (Torsade)  I offer two sizes of copper Twist. Gilt Grecian Twist is made up of four gold strands, two strands with a smooth surface two strands with a serrated surface, all four gold strands are twisted together to make a cord. This cord is great for outlining on goldwork. Gilt Grecian Twist are made up of ½ % of Gold on silver plated copper, the metal in the thread will tarnish over time.
