This book is on pulled work where the threads of the fabric are pulled together to create patterns, the threads of the fabric are not cut and drawn out as may be speculated from the title of the book.

The book features pictures of pulled work from different time periods and then a section of pulled work stitches and diagrams on how they are worked. There a few projects that can be worked in the book: Round box lid, needle book, spectacle case and table linen.

MOUNTMELLICK EMBROIDERY INSPIRED BY NATURE

My Choice Book for Mountmellick Embroidery: This is a great book for learning Mountmellick embroidery stitches, knitted fringes and 15 Beautiful projects ranging from beginners to intermediate to advanced level. The book also has a great history section on Mountmellick Embroidery.

The book contains easy-to-follow step-by-step stitch and knitting instructions, project instructions, clear black and white diagrams and colour photograph of each finished project.

There are two chapters of project: one with traditional-style designs and applications, and the other with traditional-style designs with contemporary applications. Whatever your experience or tastes this book has something to satisfy your creative desires.

This book is a great accompaniment for my Mountmellick corner design kit.

SCHWALM WHITEWORK

This book illustrates many examples of Schwalm white work designs and illustrations of the stitches used. The technique involves working embroidery stitches on a linen fabric, drawing threads from the linen and then needle weaving the threads. Pulled work stitches are also implemented in the designs.

Each whitework picture shown has a description of how the piece was worked, detailing the stitches used and the location of the stitches on the piece.

I also carry Barbara Kershaws Exquiste Schwalm Sampler which has 48 Schwalm filling stitches.
