BLACKWORK MINI MYSTERY PROJECT

Free Design

Welcome to the Blackwork Mini Mystery Project where the finished project a big surprise. Just a hint it is not a flap for a purse as it may appear!!!

The design does not have to be worked reversible as the back will not be visible. The stitching can be worked on 16 count or 32 count fabric so is suitable for all levels of stitchers.

Although the project is "mini" it will take some time to complete. I hope you will enjoy the process and the result.

The Mini Mystery Project is be posted in three stages, you can click on the links below to download the PDF file with the lesson. Some people have had difficulties downloading the PDF files, this is most likely due to the internet security settings on the computer. If you are unable to access the PDF files please email me and I will email you the PDF files.

Additional Comments

Please read the instructions carefully, it is a little confusing where to begin as normally we would begin in the center of the fabric. Refer to the Border instructions on page 2 for where to begin. You will need to work the first floral motif No. 1 on the chart on page 9 at the bottom of the fabric, about 2 inches from the bottom edge of the fabric. There will be a large space of fabric left at the top of the design for stage 2 of the project.

Change Implemented on 8th February 2012

I have updated the Blackwork Mini-Mystery Project PDF file. It is not very clear in the instructions that the individual blackwork patterns are charted out for 32 count fabric. If you are working on 16 count fabric count fabric you will need to count over half the number of threads.

The embroidery size will measure 7 ¼ inch (18 cm) wide by 4 ½ inch (11 ½ cm) high.

The minimum size fabric you need for the embroidery is 11 inch by 11 inch but make sure to center the design across the width of the fabric and be in the correct position to begin. You can use a larger piece of fabric if you want. I have changed the PDF to 12 inch by 12 inch to allow for measuring mistakes, you can still use the 11 inch piece if you have already purchased your fabric. This is the size I used when we worked the mini-mystery project at my embroiderers guild.
